Frugal Tip~Dryer Sheets

I haven't completely cut dryer sheets out of my life but I have cut back on buying them tremendously. I have realized that if I cut them in half they still work just as well. So now every time I open a box I take them all out, cut them in half and put them back in the box. Works for me!

  1. I've recently started doing the exact same thing and didn't notice any difference. I also take the entire box and cut all the sheets then just put them back in so that any one else who helps with laundry doesn't just throw an entire sheet in the dryer. Great hint/tip. Leene

  2. Great idea! I'm hoping to be done using our dryer until winter, especially since the electric company just raised our rates!!

  3. I do that too - works great. We also use dryer balls about 1/2 the time. We have a hard time keeping the dryer balls in the laundry room. They tend to leave the area hidden in laundry baskets.

  4. I've done that too.

Just wondering, have you asked your Fareway why they won't take IP's? They have a link on their company website to SmartSource. I would think if they are going to promote IP's on their website that all stores should be required to accept them. Burlington does. Might be worth a question to corporate via the website.

  5. I have never actually gone through and cut them, tearing as I go works just as well for me. Maybe it depends on what kind you use. I switch around though and have not had any trouble tearing any brand yet.

  6. Kerri,
I actually have been in contact with Fareway Corporate. They are looking into it and are contacting my stores manager. I suspect they will be accepting them soon. I figured I would call next week sometime and check.

  7. I tear mine in half as I use them, but doing it all at once is a great idea.

  9. I have been on a saving energy kick and just learned that you can dry two loads of wash at a time. Also I usually I set my dryer to "more dry" but it saves energy and is better for the clothes if you don't set if that high.

  10. Did you know that after you use them, you can use them again to dust? See, even MORE frugal!
