Hallmark Recordable Storybook Review and Giveaway!

Hallmark recently added 2 new books to their collection, "The Wish My Heart Makes for You" and "You're a Hero! All the Ways You Save the Day".

My family was lucky enough to receive a copy of the new recordable storybook, "The Wish My Heart Makes for You" for review. I was very excited when I received the book and was anxious to see how it worked. Recording the story was very easy. The book came with easy directions. All you do is unscrew the battery box (tiny screwdriver needed) to begin then read the story aloud and it will record your voice.
Since I am home all day I do the majority of the reading. So I got to thinking how fun would it be to have grandma record her voice so that she could read to them.
My kids loved it. The sound quality is pretty good and my kiddos thought it was way cool hearing grandma's voice reading to them. This is my first experience with recordable storybooks and I love the idea. I think it would make a perfect gift for any child. I am excited to look into some other recordable books in the future.
Now for the Giveaway! Hallmark is offering one lucky Learning the Frugal Life reader the chance to win a recordable storybook of their very own. That's not all. Hallmark is sponsoring the Disney on Ice Tour "100 Years of Magic" that is traveling across the U.S. with a stop here in my hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. Along with the storybook you will also receive a family 4-pack of tickets to attend Disney on Ice "100 Years of Magic" at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Tickets are for the Saturday November 24th performance at 5pm. If your not local, you can still enter to receive the book.
To enter, simply leave a comment on this post letting me know which one of the two new recordable storybook titles you would choose, "The Wish My Heart Makes for You" or "You're a Hero! All the Ways You Save the Day".
This giveaway will end Wednesday, November 14th at midnight.
If you don't already, make sure to follow me on Facebook or subscribe via email above for all the latest posts and updates.
Good Luck!
Disclaimer: I received the storybook for review along with tickets to Disney on Ice. No further compensation was given. All opinions are 100% mine.

Reusable Sandwich Bags and a Giveaway
My husband has been on an anti-ziplock kick lately after listening to a podcast about plastics polluting the ocean. It really made an impact on him. I am all for finding alternatives to ziplocks. To be frugal, I used to wash out the ziplocks and reuse them over and over. Now I am just trying to find a new way to store/carry our food.

In our quest to become a little more environmentally friendly I picked up some cute little reusable snack bags from the Natural Living Expo a couple weekends ago. I was so excited about them that I checked out my new go to site Etsy.com to see if I could find any handmade bags. I found all sorts of different types of reusable bags.
I ordered 3 bags from Celeste Blake Designs. I was very impressed with her reusable bags. They were made very well and looked like I just purchased them from a store.
These bags are made of 100% cotton on the outside and the inside is lined with waterproof nylon. If they get dirty just wipe clean with a damp cloth, or toss in the washer and air dry. The top is sealed with a zipper which I really like. There are 2 sizes to choose from. I chose the larger size, 7"x7". They hold a sandwich perfectly (or 2 cut up apples).
I am huge fan of these bags and will start using these in place of my sandwich sized ziplocks. If your interested in purchasing one (or more) of these bags you can visit
Celeste Blake Designs and view all the cute bags available.
Celeste Blake Designs has graciously given me a bag to give to one of my readers. There are 4 ways to enter. You can enter all 4 times.

All About Us
"With mounting hospital bills and an adoption under way I have gotten creative with our grocery budget. A few months ago I found an amazing little discount grocery store. In this store there are tons of organic foods that are not even OOD. For example, I am able to get my EVOO for $1.29 a bottle. I do still have to go to HyVee to get my dairy and produce. I just stock up on yogurt when it is on sale.
I also use coupons (except at the discount store), we rarely eat out, we pack our lunches, if I HAVE to have pop I buy a 2-liter bottle when it is on sale for $1.00, and I ALWAYS look at the unit price for the best deal"
Congratulations! Please contact me and we will make arrangements!

Discovery Toys Motorworks Review and Giveaway!
I was excited when Krista contacted me to do a review of a Discovery Toys product. I was even more excited when this arrived in the mail.
Discovery Toys Motorworks. This junior mechanic set comes with a screwdriver, a working power tool (requiring 2 AA batteries), and all the parts to build three vehicles. The vehicles include a race car, prop plane and motorcycle. Also included are a toolbox to keep everything in, manual, extra tool bit and extra screws. This toy is recommended for children 4 years and up.
You can see the full company description here.
My kids have had an absolute blast with this toy. We have been playing with it daily since receiving it. It is very easy for them to manipulate. The screws go in and out easily and they both love the power tool! My 4-year-old spends a lot of time sorting out the different colored of screws into piles and then tries to figure out which pieces go to which vehicle. He is completely content sitting there putting the vehicles together and then taking them apart.
I love that it comes with a toolbox to keep everything in. There are lots of little pieces, so this toy is not recommended for children under 3 due to this reason. I was very impressed with the sturdiness of the product as well. My kids have put the vehicles together, driven them all around the house, taken them back apart, and put them back together again. They are surely going to get a lot of wear around this house!
My overall impression of this toy is a good one. The toy seems tough to break which is a good thing around our house. The toy teaches order of operation, following instructions, color matching, and helps develop hand eye coordination. These things hit the learning stage my 4 year old is in right now. As I said above this toy keeps his attention for a long time. My (soon to be) 3 year old enjoys the toy on a different level. I think he is a little too busy for it right now, but he loves the tools and playing with the cars when they are put together. I would recommend this toy if your child is in the same stage my 4 year old is in as it appears to be a well built toy that helps development and is fun to play with.
If you are interested in this product for your own little one you can visit Krista at www.ToysAreGreat.com. There you can read more about Discovery Toys products, opportunities or view their catalog where you will find this great toy.
Now for the exciting news! You have the chance to win the Motor Works toy from Discovery Toys. There will be 4 ways to enter. Leave a comment for each entry.
1. Leave a comment letting me know if you have ever purchased a Discovery Toy product, if so what was your favorite?
2. Become a follower. If you already are, leave a comment letting me know.
3. Subscribe to my blog. You can do so at the top of the page, if you already do, leave a comment letting me know.
4. Post about this give-a-way on your blog and leave a link. Leave a comment letting me know you did so.
