Baby Chick

I had my first concern this morning with one of my new baby chicks. I noticed one of my Buffs had one of her eyelids closed. When I picked her up I could tell the eyeball was moving its just her eyelid looked sealed shut. I called the place where I purchased her and the said I could try and give her an eyewash to see if that would help or just bring it in to be exchanged for a new chick.Well I wasn't about to take her back just because her eye wasn't open. So I brought the poor thing upstairs and took a washcloth soaked in warm water to her eye. After holding it on there for a few minutes I was able to gently pull the eyelid apart.

Now she can see out of both eyes! Happy Day.

  3. Good job. Dr. Sara. That gave you a warm fuzzy feeling, I'm sure, not to mention how the chick must have felt. Glad it was an easy fix.

  4. Women just have that "mothering" gene. Dr. Mom to the rescue. The chick looks much happier.

  6. I can remember as a very small child waking up w/my eyes all stuck shut. Mom did the same warm washcloth trick to me!
