Have I mentioned how much I love my local Fareway? I ran into the store today to get some fruit and I found 2 bags of bananas filled to the top with old bananas. The bags were marked $.99 each. These bananas make the best banana bread. I will have the boys peel these and then I will bag them up 6 per bag and toss into the freezer. 6 bananas will make 2 loaves of bread. I have enough here for 12 loaves of bread. I love when I find deals like this.

That's exactly how I stock up to bake for Farmer's Market. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I do with old bananas also... great minds think alike-LOL
ReplyDeleteYummy idea. Awhile ago I put together banana bread kits. All the dry ingredients together in one bag waiting for the fresh and wet ingredients. I think I need to check out my local store to se eif there are any ripe bananas.
ReplyDeleteI do this too! I am very fussy about how I eat my bananas; they basically have to be just past the green stage. If I didn't do this I would waste so many, but now I love always having some in the freezer. You are making me want to go make some banana bread. :)
ReplyDeleteI do this same thing! So cheap and easy to stick in the freezer for when you are craving banana bread (which is like everyday for me)!
ReplyDeleteI just got mine out of the freezer from when I did that! I think using frozen bananas for smoothies. I saw a recipe once that had bananas and chocolate chips in a blender, plus mint flavoring but I never have that on hand. Oh my word, yummy! I wish my husband liked banana bread!
ReplyDeleteME TOO ME TOO! I do this one too :)
