Hy-Vee Deals Week of 4/28-5/4

Welcome Grocery Gathering readers! Here is a list of current deals that I see at Hy-Vee. I base my deals on what is shown at least 50% regular price for the store. I also post anything else that I consider a pretty good deal. I use central Iowas ad when making this list. My store takes both printable coupons and manufacturer coupons from the paper. Please check your local ad to confirm these deals in your area.

  2. Local Hy-Vee in Iowa Falls would not let me use a $1.00 coupon because they had reduce the Toll House Cookies to .99. Is this common?

  3. Hmmm, in my own opinion they should have taken that coupon. The store itself will get reimbursed for the value of the coupon. My guess is that you were dealing with an inexperienced cashier who was worried the at the item would be free. I have had this problem before at other stores.

After reading this comment I emailed Hy-Vee to see if they had a store coupon policy that I could read. I was told that all the stores have their own policy and that my email would be forwarded to my store manager in Ankeny Iowa.

Here is the response I got back from my store manager...

    Sara,
I do not have a written coupon policy. At this store we will take the coupon for the item that it is meant for. I do not know why we would have turned down the $1.00 Nestle coupon on the chocolate chips that were marked down. Also we should be honoring coupons for clearance items also. Basically, if they are buying the item, we will take the coupon. It should not have anything to do with it being on sale or marked down.
I have an assistant manager meeting this next week and I will be sure to go over our vendor coupon policy with all of our managers and assistant managers at that point.
If you or anyone has a question about a certain coupon or policy they can email me direct. I will add my email address at the end of this note.
Thanks for taking the time to send an email and please let me know if there is ever anything I can help with. I enjoy hearing from any of our customers.

I emailed back and clarified it was not the Ankeny Hy-Vee.

I recommend you contact your store manager to see if they have a coupon policy in place. Next time it happens I would maybe stop and ask a manager and see what they say. If you need Hy-Vees email it is...

    JTucker@hy-vee.com

She can direct you to your store manager.

    Hope this helps!
