Homemade Draft Stopper

With the cold weather upon us, I thought I would share with you a project I did with my sister last Winter. These are homemade draft stoppers. They are great for leaks around your doors. They are very simple to make and rather inexpensive.

We made these using the legs of old pants. Simply cut the leg away from the rest of the pant. We filled ours with bags of sand and animal bedding. Then you just sew the top and bottom. Attach a cord to one end and that's it.

When they are not draped in front of your door you can hang them from the cord around your door knob.

  2. That is GENIUS! I love it. Gonna have to try it - we've got several drafty-bottom doors...

  3. Thanks for your recent visit to Family, Money and Stuff! I'm always encouraged by new faces! I'm also encouraged to see you too are learning to live frugally. I look forward to learning from each other.

About this post - Great idea! I've just been using a rolled up bath towel ... your idea would be a nice permanent solution. (and then I wouldn't be short a bath towel ...) :) Thanks!
