Saving Money Now That It's Warm

Warm weather is upon us, at least temporarily so I thought I would share with you what I have been doing the last few weeks to save money and conserve energy.

Turn off the heat. With the temps in the 60s and 70s during the day and 40s-50s at night I am able to keep the heat off. We open the windows during the day when it is warm and then close them at night to keep it from getting too chilly.

Make use of the sunlight. In the morning if it is chilly I can open up our east curtains and let the sun warm the living room. Also since the days are longer now I am able to use less energy by keeping the lights off. We leave the curtains open to provide our light as long as possible.

Hang out the laundry. I am so happy to be able to line dry my clothes again, thus saving again on energy costs.

Bring on the garden. Whether you have lots of land or just a small plot, you can plant a few veggies or fruit trees that will bring fresh food to your table in a few months.

What have you done to save some money now that the weather has warmed up?

  1. I offered a seed company ad space on my blog and in return I got a full garden pack of all the seeds I need to plant a great garden this year! So Savvy!

  2. I'm so happy the skies are bluer and the air warmer most days these days! I also love to hang clothes out on the line! It's raining today, but that's when I do heavier stuff. On cooler days, if the sun is shining, I wash the lightest things I have, like napkins or aprons. It's great to save money this way, but it's also relaxing. My animals like it, too. The dog goes ballistic if he sees me with a laundry basket--he knows it means 'outies.' And one of my cats, Nutmeg, always goes belly-up right under the line so I will scratch her tummy! Life is good in the spring, at least when it comes to the wash, LOL!

  3. Great post!

I've been looking for ways to economize and when my cell contract was up, I got a Net10 phone. I pay 10¢ a minute and 3¢ for texts. It's a terrific value and there's no contract or overages.

Check it out! You can get 'em online at net10.com or at Target, Walmart, Best Buy etc.
