Tomorrow on my list of things to do is to make my first batch of homemade laundry soap. I have been wanting to try this for a long time but I had such a huge stockpile of detergent I didn't need to. Now I am down to 1 bottle and figured it was time to try and make the switch. Here's to hoping it works out! I'll let you know.
Also tomorrow we will be heading to hubby's cousin house to butcher some chickens. They have been raising Cornish Cross hens for us this Spring. The time has come for them to provide our family with some nourishing meat. Should be an interesting experience. I have read about it, seen pictures of it, but have never seen it in real life let alone participated.
And if I have time, I am planning on picking and drying some of my herbs from the garden. We bought a dehydrator a few months back and I am excited to break it in!
I just tried a new recipe for powder laundry soap tonight and it was easier and faster to make and store then the liquid one I've been making. I'm anxious to see how it works.
ReplyDeleteLet me know how drying the herbs goes too.
We love our homemade laundry detergent. I tried the liquid recipe once, but now use just the powder. It's easier to make and seems to work better, as well.
ReplyDeleteLOL I still have several bottles of commercial detergent in storage. I guess I should use them!
Good Luck with the laundry soap, I switched 2 years ago ( liquid ) and I will never go back. We used to break out so much from detergents but we never do now. I bought a dehydrator a few months back and have dehydrated everything I get my hands on. My herbs came out perfect and don't take long at all. It also makes the best jerky ever. GL with all. ReplyDeleteHey Sara,
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried Maggies Soap Nuts. I have a sample on my giveaway this week (ending tomorrow) and for reasons unknown to me I have very few people signed up for this one. We love them. You can find out more about them on their website. http://www.maggiespureland.com/index.html or you can read my little review if you are interested. www.adventureswithlincoln.com
I switched to homemade laundry soap this past January and I love it. I am in need to make another batch in the next couple of weeks but the money we saved from our own is great. Can't wait to hear more!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Oh, I can't wait to hear how it goes with both things. I am about out of cheap laundry detergent and was contemplating making my own. And we have wanted to do meat chickens for a long time. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI switched to homemade liquid laundry soap last fall. I will never go back! We no longer break out in rashes and it is so cheap and easy. Good Luck. I remember my grandparents butchering chickens when I was little. Grossed me out, so I don't think I could do it.
ReplyDeletei've been using a home-mixed powdered detergent with great results this month. like you, i waited until my stash ran low.
