Ouch! That is the only way to describe this weeks no spend update. Here is the run down of my week.
Sunday we headed to a birthday party for hubbys great aunt. We had a 2 hour drive there and back. On the way home we stopped at Country Kitchen to eat and spent $50 or our $70 entertainment money. We have $20 left for the month.
Monday I spent $31 at Fareway on fruit, sour cream and some canning lids. Since I consider canning and preserving to be part of my grocery budget I have to count it.
Tuesday we got our juicer that we ordered at the end of last month. We headed to Trader Joe's to stock up on some produce for that. We got crazy and even purchases some frozen orange chicken to have for dinner at a later date. (note to self, never shop while hungry). Total spent there was $55. Yeah, I know. We have $81 left to spend for the month.
Wednesday my son had a doctors apt and that cost $40.
Thursday we picked up our new stove. We had to order one because ours finally just wasn't functioning. We have nursed it along for a while now with just two burners working and an oven that was hit or miss. Enough was enough and we swallowed hard and paid $345 for a new oven/stove. I am actually super excited to get this installed and have a reliable cooking source. We picked it up so we didn't have to pay an additional expense to have it delivered.
Also on Thursday my daughter went back to the doctor and I was told her ear looked worse so we needed to start a different antibiotic. Total spent for her apt and medicine was $40.
Friday rolled around and we had school errands to do. Total spent on school supplies and fees was a whooping $91. That sucked. The only upside was that I did stock up on some school supplies for the year. Love this time of year when you can get $.40 crayons and $.20 notebooks.
My oldest son also got a job. He needed a good pair of shoes for work so we headed to Kohls and found a pair of Nike shoes. Sale, plus 20% off coupon and $10 Kohl's cash to use on upcoming purchase equals quality shoes for $28.
So that was my week. Hubby and I still have some allowance money left for the month. I did go to some garage sales this morning but didn't spend a whole lot of money. I did score some nice clothes for my 2 younger boys.
How did your week go?
The orange chicken and vegan fried rice is a staple in our house. :) I honestly don't think your week looks that bad. Still cheaper then you guys eating out 3-4 times a week! I know a family who eats out 3-4 times a week and still spends $75-$100 a week on groceries. I just cringe when she tells me about it. Since getting my Vitamix we are spending more on fruits, BUT we are making our own juice and smoothies. That is still cheaper then buying organic juice and smoothies in the store. Plus the health benefits are through the roof! You are doing great!
ReplyDeleteI did spend a little...100 at Target..food, clothing, school supplies etc. I tried to be very thoughtful about my spending..We also had to spend 25 for my chickens..food, grit, and corn :( So many little things..Hoping this week we will spend very little to off set it.
