No Spend Month Update

I am going to be updating every Friday on our no spend month challenge for August. Let me know if you are updating on your blog and I will post your link for others to see how your doing.

We are 5 days in and I went to the grocery store twice already. My kids go through so much fresh fruit. The first trip I bought apples, bananas, and plums for $6.38. I went back in yesterday and purchased more bananas, plums, peaches, mushrooms, milk and stocked up on the all natural pizza sauce that we use from Fareway. I spent $26.68. Total for groceries so far is $33.06.

Monday I had to go to Target and buy my oldest a pair of dress pants for an interview. He had no dress pants that fit and had I known I would have been looking for some at garage sales. Instead I had to pay $14.99 for a brand new pair.

My daughter was diagnosed with ear infection on Wednesday so I needed to pick her up some medication and I spent $20.68.

That was my expenses for the week. We didn't spend any money on anything that wasn't necessary. We spent $0 on entertainment for the week, we ate at home each night. I take that back, we ate at Panchero's tonight, but our cost was $0 because we had coupons for free burritos. That was pretty awesome.

Another fellow blogger Babies and Bargains is participating as well. Head over and check out her progress. You can also stop by my Facebook page to see how others are doing.

I guess I should add that I also spent $14 at garage sales Friday morning. I got some much needed clothes for my younger boys and a few other odds and ends.

I think it was a pretty successful first week. How did you do?

  2. Aw, sorry your dd has an ear infection, I remember you saying you thought maybe she did. I hope she is doing better now.

  3. It may not help you now, but I make my own pizza sauce (organic) for pennies. Check out the recipe here: http://beingfrugalbychoice.blogspot.com/2011/07/its-amazing-what-you-can-accomplish_26.html

Costco carries the organic tomato paste.
